Birmingham boss Alex McLeish on striker Chucho:

"He carved out a great chance in the first half, maybe he should have put his laces through it and it was a powerpuff shot.
"But he's dangerous and if we can get more balls into him in the box, that's when he is really dangerous and comes alive.
"I thought we lacked a wee bit of quality and looked a little one-paced. But it was a marvellous result from a not very good performance from us, our aggression and will to win got us through it."

Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp:

"We dominated the game, so I didn't really see the goal coming. It was a poor goal and it was pretty horrendous defending from a team that defended well all day and never were in any danger.
"We were in control of the game, we just had to continue playing the way we were. We had three points in the bag and threw two away.
"But we've only had one defeat in 12 games, so we're not in bad form. I was delighted with he way we played it's not an easy place to come to."

Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti:

"We use all the pitch to attack and so Frank is able to run into the box to score. I think he's the best running midfielder in the world. He has this fantastic quality to time his run into the box.
"It's good we are back at the top. We have one more point with a game in hand on United and two points more than Arsenal.
"That's important because on Sunday United play Arsenal. Maybe we can improve our position on Saturday."

Birmingham boss Alex McLeish:

"I don't think anyone has won here this season and they have battered better teams than us.
"I'm not disappointed with the players at all. They deserve tremendous credit for the run they have been on and they have the character to bounce back.
"Chelsea are a good side. They have the foreign flavour, the keep-ball and movement is excellent. They are one of the favourites for the Champions League, let alone the Premier League.
"We have kept the ball better than that and were wasteful in possession, but I'll forgive the players this one. There's no disgrace losing here."

Everton manager David Moyes:

"We left ourselves a lot to do after being two down at the break. We were so poor, it was always going to be an uphill task.
"It needed a very good performance after that to turn it around. We did well, but it was not good enough.
"We must give Birmingham credit. They played well, scored two goals and deserved to go through. We went missing from the start and never really deserved any luck after that."

Birmingham manager Alex McLeish:

"It was a marvellous first half, we scored two classy goals and Barry Ferguson's will be a rival for goal of the season.
"The intricate passing, the driving run, the expert finish, it was a wonderful goal.
"Benitez's goal was good, but Ferguson's was stunning. We stood up to them, particularly in the second half when we were facing an onslaught."

Nottingham Forest manager Billy Davies told BBC Radio Nottingham:

"In the first 45 minutes we were dominant, we should have come in at half-time two or three up. There was only one side in it.
"We missed a penalty at a crucial time and that gave them a boost.
"Very proud of the players, and there is no doubt that we should have won the match."

Birmingham manager Alex McLeish on his use of fringe players:

"(The changes) were enforced. Maybe it could be seen as a calculated risk to keep the momentum going if it was a Premier League game.
"But I feel we have enough experience and ability in reserve to come in and they slotted in very well.
"I would have liked to have won it, but Forest had a lot to say about that.
"They had their chances and we also had our chances, but we'll take the draw. We're still in the Cup."

"We set the standards and with every performance and result the expectation levels rise and we've challenged the players to meet those expectation levels.

Birmingham 2 - Sunderland 1 (Premier League)

After Alex McLeish had put out the rally call earlier in the week, St. Andrews erupted ten minutes before the break as Liam Ridgewell headed in Birmingham’s opener against the Black Cats. Three minutes into the second half and the Blues were 2-up, James McFadden collecting a cute flick from Jerome just inside the box before the Scot steadied himself and produced the killer finish. A Scott Dann own goal set up a nervy finish with eight minutes remaining as he haplessly volleyed in a Michael Turner header at the wrong end, but Birmingham held on for the points.
